What do you quit when stress hits?

Have you ever noticed that when stress hits, we tend to start doing the things in our life that give us stress reduction? I know it sounds backwards to tell me it doesn’t happen to you. Or else I will feel like the only one on the planet that struggles with this. The question is why, why do we stop doing things that reduce stress in our lives and reduces the harmful effects on our body when life gets stressful?

What if all it took to change this harmful cycle was an increased awareness to this destructive habit?  What if we made it a reflex that every time we feel life getting hectic and out of control we pushed harding into healthy habits?
